The Baby Room is a home away from home that is safe and full of love and nurturing. The process is designed to be effortless and smooth and our team prides itself on the relationships we have built with our babies and their families.
What is the day-to-day routine in the Baby Room?
The love and hard work that has gone into the development of the Baby Room is evident from the moment you step through the door. The team has carefully included as many elements from the Aistear curriculum as possible including sensory exploration which is vital for babies. The Baby Room also features a cosy corner, a balancing bar, a large mirror and more. To read more about the Aistear early years curriculum in the Baby Room, please click here.
While the Baby Room implements a structured routine we are of course working with babies and sometimes best laid plans are bound to be undone!
Activities
- Welcoming and settling our babies. Giving them time to wake up and adjust to the different surroundings. In this time some babies will have breakfast while others sleep.
- We have a little snack and enjoy activities with the babies that are awake.
- We get ourselves and the room ready for dinner.
- Dinner time. We encourage healthy eating habits and also encourage babies to feed themselves, where appropriate.
- Free play including sensory activities, music, ball play, cuddles and books.
- Sleep time.
- Tea time.
- Free play and nibbles. It is during this period that our babies are collected and their day with us ends.
How does the team communicate with parents and guardians?
Our team has an open door policy, and we encourage parents to stay a few minutes upon collection to learn about their baby’s day! The team completes frequent observation reports and every three months these are sent home for parents to review and enjoy. Parents and guardians can now also access up-to-date information regarding their child’s activities and progress with the Little Vista Family system (launched in the service in November 2023).
What Should I send to the Baby Room with my child?
Nappies and wipes, nappy cream, a change of clothes, a water beaker, a gro-bag for sleeping and any special creams or lotions in the event your child suffers from a skin condition.
