At KCCC Galway, we offer a range of services to suit parents’ needs, a bright, cheery childcare team, a talented, full-time chef armed with a knack for tempting even the pickiest eater, the KCCC’s philosophy focuses on a child-centered service dedicated to enhancing development, health, and well-being through play.

Our History

Before the establishment of the Kinvara Community Children’s Centre (KCCC), a small playgroup operated at the former Court House on Court House Road. As the community expanded, the demand for a service with greater capacity became apparent. In June 2004, representatives of the Kinvara Community Council organised a meeting to form a working group of interested parents dedicated to facilitating the development of a community crèche.

A feasibility study revealed that if land was made available, government grants could cover the construction costs of a new building. With a small parcel of land still remaining on the Community Centre site, the prospect of a fully-fledged children’s centre for Kinvara became a reality. An active sub-committee of the Community Council was established, initiating the lengthy process of applying for funding under the Equal Opportunities Childcare Programme.

After years of comprehensive research, think tanks, planning and incredible hard work, €1.4million in funding was awarded in October 2006 for the construction of a purpose-built, state-of-the-art children’s centre. Officially named the Kinvara Community Children’s Centre, the facility opened its doors on 1st July 2009.

In 2021, KCCC separated from Kinvara Community Council Ltd by Guarantee and formed a separate company Kinvara Community Childcare Services, CLG.

Today, the Centre caters for more than 200 children and remains an integral part of the community of Kinvara, and continues to offer a warm and inviting home from home for the children of the local community.

Aistear and Siolta: We follow the Aistear Early Childhood Curriculum - based on four themes: Well-Being, Identity and Belonging, Exploring and Thinking and Communicating. Healthy food, healthy mind: Our dedicated, on-site chefs prepare fresh, nutritious snacks and hot meals daily to encourage the development of strong, healthy eating foundations. Nature play: We source as much natural material as possible for our activities to connect children with nature whether they are indoors or out.
